Laxmikant Pyarelal hindi Biography

Overview

Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and Pyarelal Ramprasad Sharma joined the music industry as a couple of struggling musicians nearly three decades ago. The two met when Pyarelal joined Kalyanji Anandji as an assistant. Laxmikant was already assisting the pair. Both Laxmikant and Payarelal also worked under Naushad, C Ramachandra and R D Burman before they got their independent assignments. The 1963 movie Parasmani gave them their first break. The duet 'Hansta Hua Noorani Chehra' sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kamal Barot remained at the No. 1 position for weeks. The song also marked the beginning of a long term and extremely rewarding collaboration with Lata Mangeshkar. Another important landmark in their career was Dosti in 1964. The super hit song 'Chahunga Mein Tujhe' for which both, singer Mohammed Rafi and lyricist Majrooh won Filmfare awards, was almost done away with from the soundtrack, but Rafi insisted it stayed. Renowned directors like Subodh Mukherjee, Raj Khosla, Manoj Kumar, R K Nayyar, J Om Prakash, L V Prasad and Subhash Ghai banked on the music of Laxmikant - Pyarelal. They often had numerous hits in one film. Bobby had 'Chabi Kho Jaye', 'Jhooth Bole Kauva Kaate', 'Pyar Mein Sauda Nahin', 'Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai', 'Beshaq Mandir Masjid Todo' and 'Main Shayar To Nahin'. While some people assumed the duo had used up all their creativity in Bobby, six years later, they came up with Sargam in 1979 and its hit song 'Dafli Wale'. Although some of their best songs were sung by Lata 'Ja Re Kare Badra' and 'Jaane Kyon Log Mohabbat', their hits were also sung by other legendary singers. Mukesh's 'Tum Bin Jeevan Kaise Beeta', Kishore Kumar's 'Yeh Jeevan Hai', Rafi's 'Aaj Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai' and Pankaj Udhas' 'Chithi Aayee Hai' established Laxmikant – Pyarelal’s extraordinary talent and versatility.
